Should a husband defend his wife against insults from his family?
Written by Kousalya
Marriage is a one way ticket and also a commitment by both husband and wife. Beautiful married life mainly includes understanding, toleration, loyalty, appreciation and also support in every form. However not all marriage are happy and successful. If you ask me, I would say that all the small things actually matters the most in a relationship. For example, knowing your husband/wife will stand there for you even the whole world is against you. That's what everyone expect in a relationship. So today's topic will be "Should a husband defend his wife against insults from his family?" From my opinion, YES, every husband should defend his wife.
Humiliation is definitely not tolerable for anyone. Many women actually go through this situation whenever there is a family gathering especially from their husband's side. If you watch any Malay, Indian, Chinese or even Hindi drama or movies, you may have a clear picture how wives are treated in their husband's family. Sadly this happens not only in drama but in real life too. Personally, I have seen many failed marriages because of this issue. It may seem a simple thing to you but it can lead to a big problem between husband and wife.
I believe that husbands should really defend their wives in front of his family. Questions such as when are you going to have child?, why you cannot have child?, are you keeping your husband happy?, why you are fat? can really frustrate wives. At this point, husbands should open up and talk behalf of his wife. Sometimes arguments also occurs where his family will mock his wife's behaviour, cooking and others. Some husbands will also join his family and roast his wife in the name of joke. Such situation should not happen because women trust their husband, gets married to him and steps into his family. She literally doe s not know anyone yet she tries to fit in his family, and in this case if anyone or anything tries to harm his wife intentionally or unintentionally, he should stand up for her.
I have also shared this question in my social media platform and I have received many answers of YES. Venosya,20,TESL students says that, "Yes he has to because a wife is also a friend and family and if anyone in this world trying to hurt her physically or mentally, he should protect her. You put a ring on her hand so you better keep your promise to keep her heart happy and this also works both ways for boys and girls." Ernest,23,Business student says that "200% yes because she trusted him and left all for him and his family without any expectations. Ruzanna,25,Housewife says that "Being a wife that is all I expect from my husband where I want him to defend me in any situation because I trust him."
From this, many of them says yes. Just to add that wives will not be right in all the situation, so husbands should play a main role by identifying what's wrong and should know how to handle the situation in a calm way.
