NORTH KOREAN FISHERMAN EXECUTED FOR LISTENING TO US MEDIA

Korea, Dec 20- A fishing boat caption was executed for secretly for tuning into an American radio channel and other forbidden media while at sea.
The captain's surname was Choi and he was in his 40s. He worked out of a fishery base affiliated with the Central Party's Bureau 39. Choi was owner of more than 50 ships.
During an investigation, Choi admitted that he listened to RFA (Radio Free Asia) broadcast since he was 24 and while he was serving in the military as a radio operator.
Upon returning to the base in Chongjin, his crewmen lodged a report on Choi. He was then gunned down by firing squad in mid-october. A source said that he was publicly shot at the base infront of 100 other captains and managers of the facility's fish processing plants.
Another source told RFA that Choi became arrogant and disrespectful as his wealth and power began to increase and in which prompted his crewman to report his unauthorized listening choice.
A second source said that the security authorities decided then that the time to re-educated Choi had long passed so they executed him by firing squad. The authorities made an example of Choi which shows that listening to outside radio station means death,
