Sexism

Sexism is a prejudice or discrimination based on someone’s gender. Basically sexism can affect anyone but it gives more impact on girls or women. I believe the stereotypes on gender role begins since ancient time where women must be a housewife and women should not work. But as you see these days, women are more successful and well-doing in their life.

Things change from their daily routine and their lifestyle. They had the equal freedom as man. However, the security of women are remained the same since before and even worse where small children and babies are being raped. Obviously attires are not being blamed here because a school dress and baby attire does not trigger as it is not revealing.

Not only girls but boys are also sexually harassed and bullied these days for their feminine behavior. As we know, LGBT is becoming a common relationship where LGBT couples are brave in bringing up their relationship and society are accepting it but not everyone. Some countries legalize it but some countries did not. These days sexism is the most crucial thing to be discussed. Even though there are equal freedom yet stereotypes in gender still occurs. It can be in any situation.

For example, drivers are usually meant to be man but watching a woman driving a Scania lorry is normal. You can also see Food Panda riders who are girls, they share the same lifestyle and strength as boy. The most recent example that you can see where a women, Kamala Harris has appointed as the Vise President of United States and she was the first Indian American to serve as a U.S Senator as well as the second African American women.

Sexism works both in positive and negative way. Sadly, there are more tragic and negativity that are portrayed and happening in sexism. Women are always addressed as a pleasure and highly being raped. The rapist could be everywhere, it can be their father, uncle and also their best friends.

For example, recently a flight attendant,Christine Dacera,23, has been raped by her friends while celebrating New Year Eve. She was found unconscious in an empty bath tub of a Makati hotel room in Philippine. The Philippine Airlines attendant was later declared dead after being taken to hospital with “lacerations and sperm in her genitalia”. There were scratches and bruises all over her body. Sadly, the rapist are her best friends, she literally trusted them but ended up being raped. Is that because of her gender? Sexism and stereotypes should be stopped!
